We are excited that you have showed interest in having your child dedicated! Before continuing on to complete and turn in this application, we ask that you take the time to read the following information to have a further understanding of the meaning of child dedication and our process.
We believe in the power of speaking blessing and purpose in the life of your child, therefore, the dedication service is designed to bless and pray over infants and children based on the choice that the parents make on behalf of the child, to dedicate their child back to God. Here at VCC we do not practice infant baptism, as baptism is reserved for those old enough to choose baptism as an expression of their personal faith in Christ.
By taking part in a child dedication, you are making a declaration that you commit to raise your child according to God’s word and purpose for them. It is up to you as a parent to take the lead in building a firm foundation as they grow older, by teaching your child the importance of spiritual health and setting a Godly example. A life lived according to God’s design brings nothing but the best for you, your marriage, and your children.
Just as your prayers and blessings for your child can make a positive impact in their future, so can living a life of disobedience be of hindrance. You do not have to be ‘perfect’ but simply be at a place of humility and willingness to take necessary steps to pattern your life in line with God’s word.
With this in mind, in order to participate in our public, Sunday morning dedications, a living situation/lifestyle that honors God is required.
1. Single parent living alone or with family (1 Cor. 6:17-20, 7:8-9; 32-38)
2. Legal marriage between a man and a woman (Gen. 2:18-24, Mark 10:6-9)
Should you currently be in a situation not designated above and still desire to dedicate your child, other options are made available as it is our desire to see all children dedicated to God. Please contact Shana Timblin for more information on these options.
Child Dedication is step one of making your promise to God, and the first of our Faith Milestones here at Victory. Our hope is to be a part of your family’s success, both personally and spiritually, so we look forward to partnering with your family in your faith journey!
“Let the little children come to me; do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of God belongs. [...] And he took them up in his arms, laid his hands on them, and blessed them.” Mark 10:14-16
